Demonstration Development Energy Infrastructure DC (DOE DC)
Project start/finish: 2015 - current
The Demonstration Development Energy Infrastructure DC project (DOE DC) realizes a demo farm in PrimAviera where large-scale generators and customers of direct current (DC) are connected within their own electricity network. In the successful previous project "DC and Sustainability in the Greenhouse" it was demonstrated that the use of DC voltage in greenhouse horticulture offers great sustainability and economic benefits. Now a complete greenhouse will be converted to DC and 2.2 hectares of growth lighting will be used.
The project offers developers of electrical infrastructure, DC components, growth lighting and new cultivation techniques unique opportunities to develop a completely new concept and test it on a practical scale. The DC system installation requires less material, is more energy efficient and has better control options.
The greenhouse will function as a demo location and will be happy to open its doors to interested parties.
