LSNED Cathodic Protection Steel Pipes

October 2012

At LSNED (Leidingstraat Nederland):

Cathodic protection of steel pipes between Rotterdam and Antwerpen.

68 Amstels 1 CP installed.

Cathodic Protection

All the steel pipes are protected against corrosion by a special coating. However, external influences can cause damage, rust, and leakage. LSNed therefore makes use of a comprehensive cathodic protection system. All steel pipes are connected to this system, which protects them from corrosion. LSNed closely monitors this way of protection. We regularly place multiple measuring cabinets and piles throughout the track area, although the owners of the pipelines decide if it is necessary to take action following warnings.
